Pinnacle Institute’s phlebotomy certificate program will teach you both the clinical skills, such as drawing blood and handling other clinical specimens, and the professional skills required to provide high-quality patient care during a blood draw. You can become certified to work in a laboratory, hospital, or plasma center with our part-time, 9-week phlebotomy course.

According to the CDC, 70% of medical decisions are based on laboratory results, and 70% of a patient’s medical record is made up of laboratory data. This means that laboratory professionals play a vital role in healthcare and patient advocacy.

What is a phlebotomist?

Phlebotomy technicians, or phlebotomists, perform blood draws and other clinical specimen collection through venipuncture, syringe, and micro-collection techniques. 

Phlebotomists play a vital role in the overall healthcare system, and it’s a skill that can help anyone interested in working in the healthcare industry to grow their career.

What does a phlebotomist do?

The responsibilities of a phlebotomist technicians include:

  • Drawing blood
  • Collecting specimens
  • Preparing and processing specimens for laboratory testing and analysis
  • Assembling and maintaining medical instruments such as needles, test tubes, blood vials and centrifuges.

What will I learn?

In the Phlebotomy Technician program, you will learn:

  1. How to draw blood
    put patients at ease during the blood drawing procedures
  2. Process specimens for testing
    how to verify a patient’s identity to ensure proper specimen labeling
  3. Correctly label drawn blood for testing/processing
  4. Enter patient information into a database.

Course schedule

9-week class room and hands on training that meets 1 day a week on Tuesdays. Tuesday Morning and Evening courses available

Morning Schedule: 9:30AM – 12:00PM
Evening Schedule: 5:30PM – 8:00PM
